-2muchachos/summer vacation EP

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

So this is what a Russian summer is like..
2muchachos evokes pleasant memories of my past. Say, when I think of something that has happened to me, I think of it as a black and white film with this soundtrack set to it. Makes for happy experiences no? Everybody, enjoy your summer.

-White Ring/ <><>

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Music of the underworld. Distorted, disturbing, and oddly danceable. This is Crystal Castles without the sugarcoating. The song buildups for each song are intense and I am put in a trance when the beat drops. I don't know if I love everything that has come out of the Witch House movement, but I have to give credit where credit is due, and I'd like to thank witchers White Ring for making this.

- Beat Connection/ Surf Noir EP

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
At first listen, I think to myself, "Great another surf-pop band", which I don't say sarcastically, because I do find that genre of music highly enjoyable. But after that first song, you are hit left and right with up-beat electronic productions. This is okay stuff, not great but this duo can most certainly go places if they continue their craft. If only the rest of their EP was as strong as the first song... But don't take it the wrong way. It is all very enjoyable music but in my own opinion, could have finished stronger. Check it out.

- Blackbird Blackbird/ Summer Heart LP

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I was first introduced to this band through some random blog(isn't that what we all are?) in the wee hours of the morning. Me being the constant downloader I am, decided to check this out and the rest was history. Their Happy High EP was in heavy rotation since then and I had been looking forward towards their first real release. Well, here it is and I couldn't be happier. This is happy music that resonates with people of all backgrounds. Reminds me of Passion Pit type songs without the falsetto and drawn out vocals. Hazy happiness like this is what we all need.

-troll town- Chevalier EP

You can definitely hear the knights and wizards in this one. Relaxed drum beats over weird snyth noises and sound experimentations. In the same vein as Baths' Cerulean(which is located a couple of posts below), this is very relaxing and upbeat. Zoning out on this has been a favorite pastime of mine lately. Cop it and achieve knight status. Shine that shield of yours by the way, it's getting cloudy.

-XV/The Square In The Circle

VIzzy, Vizzy, Vizzy...XV is the next in a trend of Hip-Hop conscious rap and shines in his mixtape, The Square In The Circle. As you hear "Hello creativity, bye bye money", in the first 30 seconds of the first song, you are reminded of his skill to involve substance with the whatever subject matter he has chosen to speak upon. XV does what he does best and goes in on each and every single track. This a must cop.

-Afro Butterfly: No Need For Sense/ The Mellowest Trip

Michael Uzowuru, also known as Afro Butterfly has compiled two albums here which are just fantastic. What a master craftsman of Beats and Instrumentals. The tapes here provide for smooth sailing on a road of relaxation and when the ride is over, you have none other to thank but the Afro Butterfly.
